A modern spectrophotometer must be
evolutive and reliable. For the safety of your measurements, always ask
for autocentering sources and autocalibrating wavelengths, and demand conformity
with Pharmacopea requirements and validation software.
But overall, optical quality must be perfect: optics must be coated, without lenses, and exclusively mounted on metallic supports (not plastic!).
